Bs En 12390-2:2019 [patched]
Under ISO/IEC 17025 (laboratory accreditation), simply following the standard is not enough – you must prove you followed it.
BS EN 12390-2 is part of a series. It is typically used in conjunction with: bs en 12390-2:2019
Will your casting take place in a or directly on-site ? What method of compaction do you intend to use? What method of compaction do you intend to use
BS EN 12390-2:2019 is a British Standard (BS) and European Norm (EN) that outlines the testing methods for hardened concrete. Specifically, it covers the determination of the compressive strength of hardened concrete. The standard is published by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and is widely adopted across Europe and beyond. The standard is published by the British Standards
The concrete must be sampled according to (Testing fresh concrete – Part 1: Sampling). Sampling should occur mid-discharge from the truck, not at the very start or end.
The moulds must be in perfect condition, clean, and lightly oiled to prevent the concrete from sticking. The concrete sample is then re-mixed thoroughly on an impermeable surface to ensure uniformity before being placed into the mould. The standard specifies that the mould should be overfilled slightly to account for compaction. The amount of concrete used should be such that after compaction, a layer of concrete remains above the rim of the mould, ideally 10% to 20% of the specimen's height. This ensures a flat, flush final surface.
In the construction industry, ensuring the strength and durability of concrete is paramount. is the British and European Standard that specifies the essential methods for making and curing test specimens to determine compressive and tensile splitting strength.
