Why build another text editor?

In 2025 the Notepad++ update infrastructure was compromised. That was the push to finally write something from scratch — something small, something we could read top to bottom and actually trust.

Caret is built with C# and WPF. It's a single executable. No plugins, no extension marketplace, no auto-updater phoning home. You download it, you run it, you edit text. That's the whole deal.

It won't replace your IDE. It's not trying to. It's the thing you open when you need to look at a log file, tweak a config, jot something down, or write a quick script. It should open before you finish clicking.

Comrade Movie 2006 -2021- _hot_ Jun 2026

The most significant film from 2021 is the German documentary Sorry Comrade , directed by Vera Maria Brückner. The film presents the true story of Karl-Heinz and Hedi, two young lovers in 1970s Germany who are separated by the Iron Curtain. It details their struggle against the pressures of the GDR's secret police and their daring plan to escape. Director Brückner, who learned of the story from Karl-Heinz, her partner's father, intended to explore the social order and young people's questioning of the world they lived in.

This article explores the trajectory of political cinema during this timeframe, analyzing how filmmakers used the word "comrade" to examine changing global landscapes. The 2006 Genesis: Eyal Shiray’s Comrade

Avraham is a radical, elderly holdout who proudly dubs himself "the last true Communist". He lives as a squatter in a crumbling, fortified building, passing the time by tending a rooftop garden, cultivating a marijuana-growing business, and hoarding a massive cache of weapons. He is biding his time for what he believes is an inevitable, apocalyptic final battle against global capitalism. Thematic Resonance

“She wanted to know if it got better,” he said. “I don’t know. But I know that for fifteen years, we tried. And that has to mean something. Even if we lost. Especially if we lost.”

As an Israeli film from 2006 , it brings a raw, low-budget indie aesthetic to a familiar coming-of-age story, often taking strange turns, according to user reviews. The movie is less about military strategy and more about the psychological toll of isolation. It examines how the machinery of war relies on ordinary, flawed individuals who are often ill-equipped for the immense pressure of survival. The "comradeship" depicted is not one of heroic glory, but of desperate reliance on one another to maintain sanity in an absurd and lethal situation.

The story documents an agrarian uprising where small-scale farmers fiercely opposed government-backed corporate land acquisitions.

The Ramlila Grounds. Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement. Ayan and Meera stood at the fringes, holding a different flag. They were sidelined, mocked by the new middle-class activists. “You’re old news,” a young man in a polo shirt sneered. Ayan didn’t argue. He just filmed the police beating an old tribal man. Meera held the man’s hand. The polo shirt walked away. The most significant film from 2021 is the

Farmers sat on a hunger strike, their bodies thin as reeds, facing down police vans. Ayan’s voice-over, recorded years later, whispered: “We thought the land would save us. We forgot the land just wanted to be left alone.” A young woman with a torn saree shared her last roti with him. Her name was Meera. She laughed in the face of tear gas. Ayan’s lens trembled when he focused on her.

The final footage. Meera was gone. Ayan was older, softer, sitting on a charpoy. Outside, you could hear children playing. He held the camera now like a fragile relic. He didn’t speak of politics. He spoke of her.

The story is told from the viewpoint of a loyal local Communist Party member whose faith in the system is shattered by the events. 3. Dear Comrade (2019) A popular Indian Telugu-language romantic action drama.

Encrypted backups, explained.

Caret lets you back up any open document to a local MongoDB instance. Before anything is written to the database, your file content is encrypted on your machine using AES-256-GCM — the same authenticated encryption standard used by governments and financial institutions.

Your password never touches the database. It's fed through PBKDF2-SHA512 with 600,000 iterations and a random salt to derive the encryption key. Each backup gets its own salt and nonce, so even identical files produce completely different ciphertext.

Everything happens locally. No cloud, no third-party service, no network calls. You own the database, you own the password, you own the data. If you lose the password, the backups are unrecoverable by design.

Open the Backup Manager with Ctrl+B to create, browse, restore, or delete backups. It's built into the editor — no external tools required.

Setting up MongoDB (optional)

MongoDB is only needed if you want encrypted backups. Caret works perfectly fine without it.
