Season 3 is characterized by the same dark humor, intense violence, and neon-lit aesthetics as its predecessors. Critics noted that while the villains, particularly Romeo and Moises, are sometimes portrayed in an exaggerated, almost cartoonish manner, the action sequences are top-tier.

Created by Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato, Sky Rojo established itself as a "pulp Latino" thriller. The story initially followed three sex workers—Coral (Verónica Sánchez), Wendy (Lali Espósito), and Gina (Yany Prado)—as they fled from their ruthless pimp, Romeo (Asier Etxeandia), and his henchmen, Moisés (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and Christian (Enric Auquer).
